I have joined together with other Curl genealogy researchers in a Curl Surname DNA Project through Family Tree DNA (FTDNA). Thanks to Clarence Curl a web site has been established to publish the results of the project. The project as described on the FTDNA site is:

Description: |
This world wide Curl surname project has been established to obtain information which will assist genealogical researchers in the establishment of the relationship between all Curls. This includes all persons with Curl and alternative spelling surnames and persons who believe they are of a Curl bloodline, regardless of surname. At this time the project is limited to Y DNA signatures of male Curls. If you are a female of Curl descent we invite you to assist us by encouraging your Curl surname male relatives to participate in the project. Based upon the experience of similar projects, participants are strongly urged to utilize the 25 marker tests. However non curl surname participants may choose to use the 12 marker test to determine linage prior to continuing with the project. The administrators encourage anyone interested in this project to explore the information available at http://www.familytreedna.com, concerning genealogy DNA testing; and to visit our project web site. |

DNA Genealogy is a statistical process. As such, the accuracy of the results depends on having as many participants from as many Curl lines as possible. I am hoping you will join us in this project. If you are unable to participate in the testing, please put us in contact with any male Curl descendents whom you may know.
Please visit the project web page and if you are interested or have questions contact me Howard Curl
The project is still in an early phase and we have no results to date. I am hoping you will become an active participant in the project.
